Your first consultation is a chance to explain what you need and discuss the options with Matthew Haines. Bring your current dentures and your questions. You do not need to arrive knowing which treatment to choose.

Start with what has brought you in
Perhaps your denture feels loose, you are unhappy with its appearance or you are considering your first set. Tell Matthew what has been bothering you and what you would like to change.
It is equally useful to say what you like about your current dentures. If you want a similar smile but a different fit, explain that. The conversation should reflect your priorities, not just the name of a treatment.
What should I bring?
- Your current dentures, including any set you have stopped wearing.
- A short list of questions or concerns.
- Details of your dentist and relevant treatment information.
- Information about your health and medicines for the clinical discussion.
If appearance is important to you, you can bring a photograph that helps explain what you mean. Mention access needs or anything that makes appointments difficult when you book.
Will I need to see a dentist too?
That depends on your mouth and the treatment being considered. Clinical Dental Technicians can provide full dentures directly for people with no teeth and no implants. Treatment involving remaining teeth or implants requires a dentist’s prescription.
Tell the team whether you have teeth or implants when you enquire. Read our guide to when a dentist is involved for more detail.
What should I understand before leaving?
You should understand the options discussed, the proposed next step and how your individual quote will be explained. Ask how many appointments may be needed, what follow-up includes and whether you need another assessment before treatment.
If something is unclear, ask Matthew to explain it again. A consultation is the right time to ask those questions.
