New dentures

How long does it take to get new dentures?

New dentures are usually made over several appointments, rather than in one visit. The timescale depends on the type of denture, your mouth and the work needed. Ask for a plan before treatment starts, especially if you have a date in mind.

Why is there more than one appointment?

A denture has to be made for your mouth. Taking the measurements is only part of that process; the fit and the way the teeth meet also need attention. Laboratory work takes place between visits.

For a conventional set, your treatment may include impressions, a record of your bite, a trial stage and fitting. The order and number of visits depend on your treatment. Ask Matthew to explain the stages proposed for you.

Can I have them ready for a wedding or holiday?

Mention the date when you first contact the clinic. It helps the team explain whether your plans are realistic before you commit.

  • Ask when treatment could begin.
  • Check how many visits are likely and when they can be booked.
  • Allow time to get used to the dentures after fitting.
  • Ask what happens if another fitting or adjustment is needed.

A planned event is useful information, but it cannot guarantee a particular completion date. Avoid leaving the first enquiry until the week you need them.

What if I am having teeth removed?

The plan is different when extractions and healing are involved. An immediate denture is fitted around the time teeth are removed; it is not the same as a finished replacement made after healing.

Your dentist and denture clinician should explain how the appointments fit together and what later changes may be needed. Our immediate denture guide explains that distinction.

What should I ask before starting?

Ask for the expected stages, the likely interval between appointments and how follow-up is arranged. If being without your current dentures would be difficult, raise that before any work begins.

Request a consultation in Swindon to discuss the timetable with Matthew. Wait for confirmation before coming in. For an individual quote, send the team a message or call 01793 569130.
